It’s summer and the veterinarians want to remind our friends that foxtails are in bloom in the Santa Cruz area. The seeds can be dangerous to your pet. Check you pet frequently and call and make an appointment with one of our veterinarians if you have any concerns. Also, summer is mosquito season in Santa Cruz so be sure to start using Lyme disease protection!
There are several warning signs that can indicate that a pet isn’t feeling well and should be brought to the vet. Learn what symptoms to look for. Vomiting and diarrhea happen sometimes, but if a cat or dog is vomiting a lot, has blood in its vomit, or is consistently having diarrhea, there is a problem. Excessive urinating or not urinating enough is a warning sign that can often be mistaken for stress. On the flip side, excessive thirst could spell trouble. Some other indicators that a cat or dog is feeling under the weather are coughing, hair loss, and excessive itchiness. If an animal is acting lethargic or stops eating and drinking visit the vet.
It’s important to be aware of continued out-of-the-ordinary behavior in you pet. Your pet’s behavioral changes can signify something going on internally.
